Sometimes a filling is not appropriate & you need another option for dental restoration.
- Veneers
- Crowns
- Bridges
Veneers
Are like crowns – but just cover the front of the tooth – whereas crowns cover the entire tooth.
Crowns
You can restore shape, size, colour and alignment of your teeth by using dental crowns or caps.
- Sometimes fillings are not suitable - this is where a crown comes an option
- A crown is a strong tooth like shell that goes over the existing weaker tooth
- The newest latest crowns look like real teeth & patients may want to replace their existing older design crowns or crowns that have failed with newer better crowns
- The outer layout of the tooth is reduced as minimally as possible & the remaining stable core is used to bond the new crown onto delivering a strong beautiful looking tooth. We usually place crowns over teeth that have had large fillings or old crowns that has failed after decades.
Bridges
If you have a gap between your teeth a bridge can be a good option. It uses a neighbouring tooth / teeth to hold a tooth or teeth to fill the gap.
Time / appointments needed
Usually just two appointments are required, first to appointment to prepare, the second to fit.
